Colonel Zsolt Lajos Szilágyi, Commander, HDF 1st EOD and Riverine Guard Regiment first welcomed the military attachés delegated to Hungary, and then informed them about the task system and capabilities of the regiment. The visitors were introduced to the skills of the explosive detection dogs (EDD) of the K9 subunit. Then, in the framework of a static display they saw, among other things, a heavy EOD suit and the German Telemax Pro bomb squad robot helping the EOD technicians’ work. In what followed, they went to see a historical exhibition enriched with model ships on the Royal Hungarian River Guard and the Royal Hungarian Army River Guards. At the end of the day, the members of the delegation took a boat trip aboard a mine countermeasures vessel (MCMV), sailing as far as the House of Parliament. Their program – which was organized by the MoD Department for International Cooperation – closed with a visit of the Parliament building.
In answer to a question from the press, Colonel Zsolt Lajos Szilágyi said that the visit by the military attachés accredited to Hungary provides the regiment with a huge opportunity to demonstrate its capabilities not only to domestic experts, but also before an international professional audience.
