Text: Ministry of Defence |  15:04 November 19, 2024

László Hajnik, MoD Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy, was on an official visit to Morocco between 11 and 13 November to open defence policy discussions and explore possible fields for military-to-military and defence industry cooperation. During the visit, he had a bilateral discussion with Saïfeddine Senouci, Director for Procurements and Financial Cooperation at the Ministry of Defence of Morocco, and Brigadier General Naoufal Raissouni, Head of the General Affairs Department at the National Administration of Defence.

The parties mutually praised the 65-year-old Moroccan-Hungarian diplomacy relations. They agreed that the intense political dialogue between Morocco and Hungary, as well as the outstanding economic and trade relations, provide a great basis for also launching defence, military and defence industry cooperation. As both eastern challenges (war in our direct neighbourhood) and threats from the south (illegal migration and terrorism) have distinguished importance for Hungary, and Morocco relates similarly to migration problems and concentrates similarly on fighting global and regional terrorism, we can mutually support each other’s efforts in the future.

The deputy state secretary visited the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) in Rabat, as well as the Institute of Military History of the Moroccan Armed Forces Headquarters and the 1st Infantry Parachutist Brigade in Maamoura.
