Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) Admiral Pierre Vandier held discussions on October 26 in Szentendre with senior officers of the Hungarian Defence Forces Transformation Command regarding the HDF’s defence capacities, capabilities and their development. During the first leg of his two-day visit, he also familiarised himself with the functioning of the HDF NCO Academy.

The official program began in Heroes’ Square, where the NATO superior and Chief of Defence General Zsolt Sándor laid wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The professional program on the first day took place at the Szentendre garrison, where the HDF Transformation Command welcomed the delegation. The parties then held a plenary session to discuss the HDF’ defence capacities, capabilities and their development. During a training-focused static demonstration at the HDF NCO Academy, Admiral Pierre Vandier gained an insight into the unit’s functioning and, by extension, into Hungary’s NCO training system.

The primary mission of NATO’s Allied Command Transformation is the continuous development of the Alliance’s military capabilities to meet the challenges of our time. This includes strategic foresight, concept and doctrine development, capability development, improving interoperability, education and training, lessons learnt, and the examination and experimental evaluation of the military application of new technologies.
