Alongside the ministerial meeting in Cyprus, Defence Minister Dr. Romulusz Ruszi-Szendi PhD held discussions with French Minister of the Armed Forces Catherine Vautrin.

The meeting has a clear message: Both Hungary and France have a shared interest in further strengthening their bilateral and military relations. “We are open to expanding future military cooperation and deepening strategic-level military consultation,” wrote the Minister of Defence on his social media page.
“We discussed the joint development of the defence industry as a priority issue, which could open up new opportunities for both countries in the areas of defence and technological development,” stated Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi.
“Hungary’s position, however, remains clear and consistent: we will not send troops to Ukraine. Our country supports an immediate ceasefire and peace, which can be achieved only through political and diplomatic means,” emphasized the Minister of Defence.

As part of his program in Cyprus, Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi met with the staff of the Hungarian Embassy and the Hungarian troops serving on the island.
„I thanked them for their committed service, since day after day, Hungary’s security is guaranteed by those soldiers who stand their ground here at home and abroad. The meeting provided me with a good opportunity for gaining first-hand knowledge of their experiences and reaffirming our support to them” – wrote the minister of defence.
