The future prospects of our defense relations and the mutual assessment of our successfully delivered military programmes over the past year constituted the main topics for discussion at the third meeting of the Hungarian-Egyptian Joint Military Committee (MJC) organized in Budapest on September 24-25. The Hungarian delegation at the committee meeting was led by Colonel István Hajnal, Head of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Defense, whilst the Egyptian military delegation was led by Brigadier General Sameeh Yahia Hamed Khodier, Egyptian Co-Chair of the MJC.

At the meeting, the respective parties confirmed that the Arabic Republic of Egypt remains a key partner for Hungary in many areas, including that of defense cooperation. The armed forces of the two countries maintain close professional relations; meetings and consultations between various professional areas of our defense sectors have been regular in recent years. It was also confirmed that the Egyptian side heeds special attention to exploring opportunities in the realm of the defense industry and in this regard the Egyptian side was informed about the institutional changes that affected this domain in Hungary last year.

The maintenance of our expert-level military dialogue is well guaranteed by a protocol signed by the parties at the conclusion of the MJC, which document outlines a number of mutual professional programs scheduled for 2026.
