“NATO’s strength is in the unity of its allies. Hungary’s security is guaranteed not by loud statements, but by reliable partnerships, well-prepared national defence, and a joint deterrent capability,” wrote Defence Minister Dr. Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi PhD on his social media page on the second day of the NATO Summit in Ankara.

“We are working to ensure that our country is a strong, secure, and reliable ally. Hungary’s interests are clear: to defend the country, strengthen the capabilities of the Hungarian Defence Forces, and build international partnerships that enhance the security of our citizens,” he wrote during the summit of allied nations in Türkiye.

„NATO is not an end in itself, but an important community where member states stand together to ensure each other’s security. This is particularly valuable in an unpredictable security environment, where strengthening Europe’s defence and reinforcing transatlantic cooperation is our shared responsibility,” the minister stated.

“Hungary best serves its own national interests by being a strong, credible, and active member of this Alliance,” Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi concluded his post.

Hungary was represented at the two-day NATO Summit by Prime Minister Péter Magyar, Foreign Minister Anita Orbán, and Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi. General Zsolt Sándor, Chief of HDF Defence Staff, also attended the summit.
