After the 20 November session of the Defence Council, Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky gave a report in a video message on the situation created by the Russo-Ukrainian conflict. The minister said that “to prepare for all possibilities, I have ordered that the newly procured air surveillance and air defence assets and the capabilities built on them be fielded in the north-eastern part of Hungary”.

In his video message, the minister said that the threat of the escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War is higher than ever before. The Ukrainians have received Western authorization to attack targets deep in the area of Russia. Because of this, the Russians are envisaging a counterstrike and have adopted a new nuclear doctrine.

The government of Hungary continues to trust in the peaceful settlement of the conflict with diplomatic means, but Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky has taken an important measure when he ordered that the newly procured air surveillance and air defence assets and the capabilities built on them be fielded in the north-eastern part of Hungary.

“These items of equipment enable us to increase the precision of detection in the field of air surveillance and to shorten the time required for reaction. The assigned forces of the Hungarian Defence Forces are currently on stand-by” – announced the minister in his message.

“We protect the security of Hungary and the Hungarian people with all our strength and equipment” – this was how Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky closed his message.
