EU Presidency: Responsibility and Unique Opportunity at Once for the Hungarian Defence Forces from the Strategic Level to the Tactical One

Hungary is taking over the presidency of the Council of the European Union in a critical period when we have to navigate in a complex security environment and when defence is occupying a distinguished place in the EU’s agenda, said General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of HDF General Staff, at the Embassy of Hungary in Brussels on Wednesday, 3 July. Upon the proposal of the Hungarian presidency, the representatives of the EU Military Committee will not negotiate in Brussels but in a member state for the first time in the EU’s history; thus, Hungary will host this high-ranking event in October.
Defence Attachés’ Meeting

Members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps visited the HDF Cyber and Information Operations Centre in Szentendre and the HDF Territorial Defence Forces Command in Budapest on the first week of June. Altogether 20 resident and non-resident attachés accredited to Hungary from 14 nations participated in the programs. During the event, the organizers presented several pieces of tactical equipment and cultural heritage, including the G-Mercedes vehicles used at the PSYOPS exercises and the museum showing the history of NCO training.
The Government is Dedicated to Supporting Sports

The government has always been dedicated to supporting sports, which can be seen from the introduction of everyday PE lessons and the launch of the Sporting Nation Program – said Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky in the Puskás Aréna stadium on Monday, the Hungarian Sports Day, at the conference called “Diplomacy in Sports and Sports in Diplomacy”.

Hungarian Defence Forces conduct complex exercise to strengthen country defence

Speaking in the program “Napi Aktuális” of Hungarian television channel Hír TV on the day of starting the multinational countrywide Exercise Adaptive Hussars 2023, General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of the HDF General Staff said that during this exercise – the largest one in Hungary over the past 30 years – the Hungarian Defence Forces are mobilizing their reserve as well. In accordance with NATO plans, they are training for military operations that involve Alliance forces stationed in Hungary, and are cooperating with Hungarian civil administration to test its capabilities and level of preparedness.
