Renewing HDF Search and Rescue Capabilities

Old equipment is being replaced with modern helicopters at the Hungarian Defence Forces search and rescue (SAR) service – announced Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky. He also added that old Mi-17 helicopters have recently been replaced with new H145M ones.

Rheinmetall KF51 Panther Main Battle Tank Being Developed in Zalaegerszeg

Prof. László Palkovics, PhD, CEO of the national defence industry innovation company N7 Holding Ltd, Paul Walf, CEO of the Rheinmetall Hungary Ltd and Björn Bernhard, PhD, CEO of the Rheinmetall Landsysteme signed a cooperation agreement on the development of a new generation KF51 Panther Main Battle Tank in Zalaegerszeg on Thursday, 14 December.

Harmonizing doctrines in Budapest

“The multinational participants of the course can enrich themselves with a new and useful body of knowledge contained in doctrines and their development”, said Major General Dr. László Sticz, Commander, HDF Force Modernization and Transformation Command (HDF FMTC) at the opening of the NATO Allied Joint Doctrine Development Course in Budapest on 16 October. Co-organized by the HDF FMTC, the Allied Command Transformation (ACT) and the NATO Standardization Office (NSO), the event will close on 19 October.

NATO delegation visits Hungary

Attachés’ visit to Győr and Pápa

On 13 and 14 June, twenty-three members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps (BMAC) paid a visit to the HDF 205th Surface-to-Air Missile Regiment and the HDF 47th Air Base. During the visits, the diplomats gained an insight into the structure of the units as well as their scope of tasks and authority, and learned about their main military assets.

Turkish Chief of Defence visits Hungary

On Sunday, 11 June General Musa Avsever, the recently appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces arrived in Hungary for a three-day official visit. The military leader first went to pay his tribute in the Turkish military plot (Budapest Turkish Military Cemetery) of the New Public Cemetery in Budapest.

German armored troops at Tata

As part of the German–Hungarian land forces cooperation, Brigadier General Björn F. Schulz, Commander, Bundeswehr Panzertruppenschule (Armored Troops School) recently arrived in Hungary and paid a visit to the HDF 1st Armored Brigade in Tata on 24 May.
