Coordination Conference in Naples

On 26 October, the NATO Joint Force Command Naples (NATO JFCNP) organized the 2023 Southern Commanders’ Coordination Conference (SCCC). The Hungarian Defence Forces were represented at the event by Brigadier General Balázs Szloszjár, Commander, HDF General Staff Joint Operations Command and Control Centre.

Two hundred Hungarian troops can serve in Chad

At the invitation of the President of Chad, a military mission would be sent to the African country, in the framework of which a maximum of 200 Hungarian troops would serve there starting from the spring of 2024 – this was what Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky said at the 25 October session of the National Assembly, in the general debate of a motion on the military engagement of the Hungarian Defence Forces in Chad.

Hungarian Chief of Defence visits Türkiye

General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of HDF General Staff paid an official visit to Ankara between 24-26 October. During the program, the Hungarian Chief of Defence was received by Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler and General Metin Gürak, Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces.

Collective war grave care in Southern Poland

Meeting of Chiefs of Defence in Spain

On 17-18 October, the Chiefs of Defence of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC) met for the first time outside Belgium, in Sevilla, Spain. Hungary was represented at the event by General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of the HDF General Staff, who attended the sessions together with Major General Tamás Sándor, Hungary’s military representative.

International concentrated fire on Hajdúhadház shooting range

“Knife-throwing, descending down a cliff by rappelling, water crossing, vehicle push, litter-carry, overcoming a contaminated terrain sector, memory tests and surprise tasks” – this was how Lieutenant Colonel Ákos Kreácsik, Commander, HDF 2nd Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) Regiment listed the events of this year’s Saint Martin International Reconnaissance Competition. The participants are to carry out the above-mentioned tasks during the three-day competition, which involves military units from seven Central European countries, among them two Hungarian ones.

Government submits proposal for launching military mission in Chad

Acting on behalf of the government of Hungary, the Ministry of Defence has submitted a draft resolution to the National Assembly for launching a military mission in Chad. Last week, Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky already presented the plan of the military mission.
