“The Hungarian Defence Forces have proved that they have talented officers, who can lead a mission, and that we have a suitable pool of military equipment. Therefore, we provide EOD, helicopter and MEDEVAC capabilities, among others, for several operations. This is mainly the result of the armed forces development”, said General Dr. Gábor Böröndi after seeing the EUFOR capability demonstration.

“This year, we are honoured because a Hungarian soldier, Major General Dr. László Sticz, is the mission’s commander. We trained our officers step by step so that they can receive leading positions, similar to Lieutenant General Kajári at the helm of the KFOR mission. We still train the future generations of leaders in a way that they start learning lessons in operations early so that later, they can achieve the highest possible positions following in the footsteps of their predecessors”, underlined the Chief of Defence.

“It is really difficult to evaluate a ten-month work shortly and briefly. We were able to overcome the initial difficulties quickly, thanks to the fact that the EUFOR, as an ‘international organization’, had to find a way through which it could integrate into the everyday life of this country. This is why now I can assess the Hungarian command – following the more than fourteen-year-long Austrian command – as successful”, emphasized Major General Dr. László Sticz, Commander, EUFOR Operation Althea. He added that the work must also be carried on during the holidays, regardless of the holiday season, until the end of the command year in January.
