Hungary takes its defence industrial cooperation with Serbia to a new level
Text: honvedelem.hu/MTI | Photo: Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky’s Facebook page, MTI |  11:58 April 24, 2023On Saturday, 22 April Prime Minister Viktor Orbán conducted negotiations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić: the main topic of their discussion was the deepening of defence industrial cooperation between the two countries, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief Bertalan Havasi told Hungarian News Agency MTI.
The Prime Minister’s entourage on his visit to Belgrade included Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky; László Palkovics, CEO, N7 National Defence Industry Innovation Holding Corp.; and State Secretary for National Information József Kovács. During the negotiations, the delegations reviewed the possibilities for military cooperation between Hungary and Serbia, and concluded that the opportunity would be opened up for taking cooperation to a new level in the fields of defence industry and armed forces development in the coming years.
Viktor Orbán and Aleksandar Vučić discussed the European security situation and the developments of the war in Ukraine, as well as the perspectives for the European integration of the Western Balkans. In what followed, they jointly visited Batajnica Air Base, where they saw the event “Granite 2023”, a public demonstration of military capabilities held on the occasion of the Serbian Armed Forces Day.
