In Alliance: German NATO bases in focus

At the Geilenkirchen base of the NATO Airborne Early Warning & Control Force (NAEW&C Force), Base Commander Major General Andreas Korb received Major General Sticz, who had the opportunity during his visit to see a special AWACS E-3A aircraft together with the Hungarian personnel serving on the base.

In his briefing, Senior National Representative Lieutenant Colonel Károly Kosztya said that the core task of the base is continuous airspace surveillance and control, by taking into account the current operational situation. During their activity, the personnel control air units and lead combat search and rescue (CSAR) operations if necessary, monitor missile defence systems and support littoral defence and maritime operations.
The next leg of the visit was Ulm, where Lieutenant General Kai Ronald Rohrschneider, Commander, and Major General Detlev Simons, Chief of Staff at NATO Allied Joint Support and Enabling Command (JSEC) received the high-ranking Hungarian guest.

Lieutenant Colonel Szilvia Csontos, Senior National Representative informed the guests about the tasks and role in the workings of the command of the Hungarian soldiers serving in permanent change of station (PCS) status. She said that the JSEC coordinates the deployment and logistic support (reinforcement by forces and subsequent sustainment) of allied forces, which is indispensable for the synchronization of operations in the rear area and the preparation of the theatre of war.
