The allied nations – among them, Hungarian servicemembers and their family members – entered the five-kilometer run to pay tribute to Poland’s freedom and national traditions.

The name “POLSOF Run” refers to a running race that is annually organized for the SHAPE community in honor of the Polish Special Operations Forces (POL SOF) and the Polish national holiday. The sporting event was attended by Major General László Sticz PhD, Hungary’s national military representative at SHAPE, as well as his deputy, Colonel István Cseklán and also by Chief Warrant Officer Zoltán Kaszab, Command Senior Enlisted Leader (CSEL), NATO SHAPE. With their run, they paid tribute to the centuries-long historical friendship between the Polish and the Hungarian people, which is based on the shared values of freedom, cooperation and mutual respect.
The event provided the SHAPE community with an excellent opportunity to jointly commemorate the achievement of Polish freedom, thereby further strengthening the spirit of camaraderie and togetherness among allied nations.
