Levente Lévai will join the HDF Sports Company as a fresh European champion, after the 19-year-old Greco-Roman wrestler, who is ahead of the basic training, won a gold medal in the 72kg category on the last day of the European Wrestling Championships, held in Samorin (Somorja). The military athletes of the Sports Company closed the championship fantastically: Corporal Erik Szilvássy (82kg) came second and Corporal Alex Szőke (97kg) came third.

Levente Lévai’s hand was lifted up in the final against the French Ibrahim Ghanem, but at the medal ceremony, both of them stood on the top of the podium due to a mistake made by the judges during the combat.

Corporal Erik Szilvássy congratulated the Azerbaijani Gurban Gurbanov on his win from the second stage of the podium following a combat with obvious dominance. Alex Szőke’s opponent was the Olympic, four-time world and seven-time European champion, the Armenian Artur Aleksanyan, who stepped down before the bronze medal final, thus, the corporal of the HDF 1st Sports Company stepped onto the tatami only for the announcement of his win.

The Hungarian team of Greco-Roman wrestlers, led by reservist Lieutenant Viktor Lőrincz, gained third place in the team ranking at the European Championships in Samorin.
