Hungary’s most prepared cadets have the opportunity to test their skills and knowledge against Czech, Romanian, British, Austrian and Serbian cadets at the 5th International Cadet Cup, which is at once the finals of the 9th National Military Tournament.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the three-day competition on 7 April, Lieutenant General Zoltán Mihócza, Deputy Chief (Territorial Defence) of the HDF Defence Staff said that we are honored to have the opportunity, this year again, for Hungary – in particular for the HDF Recreation, Training and Conference Centre – to host this prestigious competition that continues to enjoy increasing international recognition.
“This year, 30 teams are competing to test their strength and preparedness, demonstrating that military values have a cross-border nature and that soldiering and sports are closely connected in Europe. In our service, it is indispensable that we should be prepared both physically and mentally” – underlined the lieutenant general in his speech.

In our fast-paced world, the amount of time spent on physical activity is shrinking, so the events incentivizing sports and providing community experience are especially important. The trial of strength co-organized by the Defence Sports Association, the HDF Recreational, Training and Conference Centre and the HDF Sports Company is not only a fitness challenge. The days spent at the International Cadet Cup provide the students with opportunities for networking, exchanging experiences and learning about each other’s military traditions as well.
