“The performance you gave during your tour of duty abroad well exemplifies Hungarian military expertise and camaraderie” – this was how Brigadier General Zsolt Molnár praised the homecoming personnel of the 29th rotation of the HDF EUFOR Contingent. At their homecoming ceremony held in Szentes, the Depuy Commander (Land) of the HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) handed over recognitions to soldiers returning home from their service in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky: combat vehicle maintenance, too, has outstanding significance

On 19 March, a combat vehicle repair workshop with an area of 2500 m2 was inaugurated in the Tata barracks of the HDF 1st Armored Brigade, where the maintenance of Leopard 2A7HU main battle tanks and PzH 2000HU self-propelled howitzers can be performed on altogether 10 vehicle stands.

NATO General visits the Rock

On 18 March, Lieutenant General Juan Pablo Sanchez de Lara, Commander, NATO’s Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC), Torrejon, Spain paid an official visit to the Hungarian Defence Forces Air Operation Command and Control Centre (HDF AOCCC), Veszprém. The NATO CAOC Torrejon Commander was received by Brigadier General Dr. Tamás Bali, Deputy Commander, HDF Joint Operations Command.

With Hungary holding the presidency, the Hungarian Defence Forces recently received in Hungary the military delegations of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland, within the framework of the V4 Cooperation. According to General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of HDF Defence Staff, it is essential that the four countries build real and shared military capabilities. A good example of this is Exercise Breakthrough 2025, the joint training event of the V4 countries, which develops the artillerymen’s and tank crew members’ skills.

HDF NCO Academy in International Focus

On 21 October, within the framework of a visit organized by the MoD Department for International Cooperation, the commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces Non-Commissioned Officer (HDF NCO) Academy received the members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps (BMAC) in Szentendre. “To us, it is very important that we had a chance to introduce foreign defence attachés accredited in Hungary to the current training programs of the HDF NCO Academy, its achieved results and the current directions of development” – said Colonel Imre Frankó.

Already on the second occasion in Hungary, the HDF Medical Centre and the Department of Experimental Cardiology and Surgical Techniques, Semmelweis University recently organized a training course for surgeons treating seriously injured patients. The international course was attended by about 30 civilian and military professionals in the field of military medicine from many parts of the world.

From Hungary to UN peace missions

Public order is being restored, but the leaders of the country call for the assistance of UN peacekeeping forces – this is the fictitious scenario of the International Military Observers’ Course running in Szolnok, Tázlár and Kiskunhalas. Between 29 September and 17 October, 22 servicemembers from 13 countries are participating in the pre-deployment training course.
