Speaking at the first staff meeting of 2026 held at NATO Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE), Major General Sticz summarized and conveyed Chief of HDF Defence Staff General Dr. Gábor Böröndi’s guidelines for this year.
The National Military Representative emphasized that he continues to expect Hungarian servicemembers to perform their tasks to high standards, both in the office of the National Military Representative and in individual NATO positions. He pointed out the importance of focused and precise task execution, laying special emphasis on Exercise Adaptive Hussars 2026, which – like the one in last year – will assign a designated role to the personnel in Mons.

Major General Sticz said that the children of the Hungarian community are preparing with a display for the commemorative ceremony on 15th March and SHAPE’s event on the international Children’s Day. On 21 May, the Day of the Hungarian Defence Forces, the community will organize an international event and invite the key leaders of SHAPE, the national military representatives as well as their deputies. The National Military Representative announced that the Hungarian community is going to organize the International Military Boxing Competition for the second time in November; based on last year’s experiences, it will start organizing the event as early as this spring.
