Viktor Orbán: For us, Hungary’s security comes first
Text: honvedelem.hu/MTI | Photo: Zoltán Fischer/Prime Minister’s Press Office |  15:48 June 9, 2023In the early morning hours of Thursday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán convened a meeting of the Defence Council due to the escalating fighting in the Russo-Ukrainian War, the Prime Minister’s Press Chief Bertalan Havasi told Hungarian news agency MTI.
Speaking at the meeting held in the Carmelite Monastery of Buda, Viktor Orbán emphasized that although there’s nothing more important right now than to achieve a ceasefire and peace talks, fighting in the Russo-Ukrainian War had intensified since the previous night. For us, the security of Hungary remains the first priority, stated the Prime Minister.
Also in attendance at the meeting of the Defence Council had been Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, Minister of Interior Sándor Pintér, Prime Minister’s Cabinet Chief Antal Rogán, Lieutenant General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Chief of the HDF General Staff; Brigadier General Norbert Tajti, Chief National Security Advisor State Secretary József Kovács and Head of the Prime Minister’s Office State Secretary János Nagy, Bertalan Havasi told MTI.
