Battle management in a multinational force

In a couple of weeks following their successful Combat Readiness Evaluation of Land Headquarters and Units (CREVAL), the personnel of the NATO Forward Land Force Battle Group (NATO FLF BG) took another test. This time, the Hungarian-led tactical sub-unit demonstrated its capabilities during Exercise Black Raven 2024 in the Bakony Hills.

Hungarian senior officer receives NATO recognition

Transformation through training – this is the motto of the NATO Joint Force Training Centre (NATO JFTC), which is responsible, among others, for combined and national training in the defensive Alliance, for concept development and for the enhancement of interoperability. During a ceremony held to mark the 20th anniversary of the military organization, Lieutenant Colonel Gábor Endrődi, Staff Officer, HOST/Operations Section, JFTC received a certificate of commendation from the chief of staff of NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT) for his outstanding service from September 2022 to August 2023.

In the Same Direction – Meeting of EU and NATO Chiefs of Defence

Military leaders of the EU and NATO recently met in Brussels. The preparation for Hungary’s EU presidency in the second half of the year was the main focus of the military discussions held with the participation of the chiefs of defence of Belgium, Hungary and Spain. Meanwhile, the chiefs of defence of NATO countries discussed the implementation of the new defence plans of the Alliance and the reshaping of NATO’s warfare.

On the fourth day of the multinational Exercise Brave Warrior 2024, an Italian rifle company of the NATO Forward Land Forces Battle Group (NATO FLF BG) carried out a live fire exercise (LFX) with armored Centauro Reconnaissance Anti-Tank Vehicles, towed 155mm FH-70 field howitzers, 120mm heavy mortars and Iveco LMV Light Multirole Vehicles as infantry fighting vehicles. In the afternoon, the main role in the Bakony Hills was being played by the Hungarian soldiers and their anti-armor Carl Gustaf M4 recoilless rifles, as the personnel declared to the FLF rifle company are continuously training for the Combat Readiness Evaluation of Land Headquarters and Units (CREVAL) validation exercise.

Aircraft Arrive at Pápa in Several Waves

Exercise Swift Response, which puts NATO’s eastern flank in the centre, is part of Exercise Steadfast Defender 2024. At the forefront of Swift Response are those defence capabilities which help the NATO alliance system repel possible aggression from the East. Within the framework of the exercise, German and Dutch troops of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA) arrive at Pápa to participate in an airborne operation in Romania. Our crew captured the arrival of the aircraft at the HDF 47th Airbase.
