On 2 March, László Hajnik, MoD Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy held an official discussion with his Italian partner, Admiral Gianfranco Annunziata in Rome. At the meeting, the defence policy leaders signed the schedule of the bilateral Italian–Hungarian military cooperation in a ceremony.

NATO Medal Parade in Kosovo

The tour of duty of the 27th rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent is nearing its end in Kosovo. The backbone of the more-than-400-strong contingent has been made up of the Hungarian Defence Forces 1st Armored Brigade, but several other military organizations have contributed troops for the time of the foreign mission. In recognition of their service abroad over the last six months, the soldiers received their NATO medals at an event held in Camp Novo Selo.

Defence Innovation Research Institute established

In February 2023, the Defence Innovation Research Institute Nonprofit Ltd (DIRI) was established. According to its concept, the DIRI is dedicated to mapping dual-use technologies, i.e. those that can be used for civilian and military purposes alike, and to supporting their defence-related utilization. Further tasks of the new organization include interministerial cooperation, international embeddedness and the specification of long-term development goals. The Minister of Defence exercises the ownership rights of the new company.
