Solidarity among NATO member states is highly important in the present situation

Hungary and Lithuania both perceive “close up” the gravity of the Russo-Ukrainian War, and solidarity among NATO member states is highly important in the present security situation. In this spirit, the Hungarian Defence Forces’ Gripen fighter aircraft have already been conducting the Baltic Air Policing mission for the third time, and the Lithuanian minister of defence said thanks for it, Hungarian Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky told the press after his discussions in Lithuania.

Since 1 August, four Gripen fighter aircraft of the Hungarian Air Force have been safeguarding the Baltic airspace to protect Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia once again for four months. “On this day, we, as lead nation, are taking over the symbolic keys of a mission which has a major role in the life and security of the citizens of the Baltic countries as well as in NATO’s history”’, said Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky at a Handover-Takeover ceremony organized on Šiauliai Air Base, Lithuania. Also in attendance at the event was Lieutenant General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi PhD, Commander, Hungarian Defence Forces.

Hungarian national parachute team competes in the Czech Republic

On Monday, 18 July the 37th FAI World Freefall Style & Accuracy Landing Championships started with an opening ceremony in Strakonice, the Czech Republic. Twenty-eight teams and 179 competitors from 28 countries have entered the competition, where Hungary is represented by the national parachute team of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

The military air show Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 (RIAT) has ended in Fairford, UK. The HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base was represented with two Mi–24 helicopters at the event, which entertained the international audience during static displays and dynamic demonstrations. Fairford: Hungarian success again!

Organized again after a two-year break at RAF Fairford, South England, the Royal International Air Tattoo 2022 (RIAT) military air show has delighted us with another Hungarian success. On 17 July, Captain Dávid Szentendrei, a pilot from the “Puma” Tactical Squadron of the HDF 59th Dezső Szentgyörgyi Air Base won the prestigious award for the Best Solo Jet Demonstration.
