At the end of the Holy Mass celebrated in Kossuth Square, Budapest on Sunday, 30 April, Pope Francis asked world leaders to build peace, praying for a future full of cradles not tombs. The ceremony held by the head of the Roman Catholic Church was also attended by, among others, President of Hungary Katalin Novák, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Speaker of Parliament László Kövér and Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky.

In the early morning hours of 27 April, an A319 military transport aircraft of the Hungarian Defence Forces landed on the base of the HDF 101st Aviation Wing in Kecskemét, carrying on board 32 Hungarian and foreign citizens evacuated from civil war-stricken Sudan. The passengers of the plane were received by Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, MoD Cabinet Chief Zsolt Barthel-Rúzsa and Lieutenant General Zsolt Sándor, Deputy Chief of General Staff, Hungarian Defence Forces.
Another Székesfehérvár soldier receives NATO award

On Friday, 21 April, France’s ambassador to Hungary Claire Legras visited the HDF Cyber and Information Operations Centre (HDF CIOC). The situation in Sudan has made it necessary to bring Hungarians home from Sudan with the coordination of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and with the participation of the Counter Terrorism Centre, using the capacities of the Hungarian Defence Forces – stated Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky in a video uploaded to his Facebook page on Saturday.
